Purpose:
The Kirkhof College of Nursing (KCON) has many opportunities each year to interact with the public to present information about the various programs, provide tours of the College, and to attend recruitment events.
We believe that nursing students have an important message for these various audiences. Real life experiences in nursing are valuable and provide a perspective on Nursing at GVSU that are best conveyed by KCON students.
KCON Student Ambassadors build on the outstanding reputation of the Nursing program by providing excellent customer service, education, and information to alumni, current students, prospective students, and members of the community.
Responsibilities:
KCON Student Ambassadors assist the Office of Student Services during information sessions, recruitment events, orientation, NUR 120 & 220 presentations, and KCON ceremonies. A Student Ambassador’s main role is to present accurate information, answer questions, and provide a student perspective on the nursing program. Professional public speaking skills, a positive attitude, and friendly persona are also required.
Time Commitment:
The time commitment depends on the individual KCON Student Ambassador. It depends on how many events are during the semester and how many people are needed.
A one hour training session is required and will be scheduled in the beginning of the semester.
Benefits of Being a Student Ambassador:
KCON Student Ambassadors will increase the development of leadership, public speaking, and presentation skills. KCON Student Ambassadors will get experience working with GVSU faculty and staff, current and prospective students, and community members.
You can receive LIC points for all volunteer hours put into the program. The distribution is broken down on the LIC points page.
