Call to order at:
The SNA meeting was called to order at 12:00 pm by Jessica Lerch, President.
II. Roll
Call: The roll call of the board
was taken by Sally Hoekzema, Secretary.
III.

VII. Officer Reports:
A. President
a. An announcement was made to welcome everyone in attendance to a new semester of SNA activities and meetings.
b. The process of signing up to be an SNA class delegate was explained, and the President walked those present
and interested through each item in the delegate
folder. There will be a maximum of 7 delegates and 2 alternates per class.
c. An announcement was made regarding committee explanations and sign-ups to
happen at the next general meeting. Committee explanations were also provided
in the delegate folders and will be posted on the website, www.gvsusna.com. Each board member gave a brief introduction of self and headed committee.
d. Staff Advisor, Angela Caruso, made a brief announcement and explanation
of her role in SNA and the Student Ambassador program.
e. The announcement was made that sign-ups for MNSA Annual Convention are available on the door of CHS 316. This convention is February 5-7 in East Lansing, MI and SNA will pay the registration
fee for 24 members and reimburse gas money for 6 cars. Final sign-ups are due January 22 at 5:00 pm.
f. Sign-ups for NSNA Annual Convention, held April 7-11 in Orlando, FL, are also
available on the door of CHS 316. SNA will pay for the flight and hotel costs for 8 members who attend. This sign up
ends January 29 at 5:00 pm.
g. The Treasurer announcements were made by the President, Jessica Lerch.
The External Account Balance equals $5925.16, but will soon be depleting following the purchase of airplane tickets and
hotel reservations for convention. Also, the Treasurer would like to advise the CHS committee to look for an upcoming email
regarding the moving of the SNA bulletin board.

- The SNA Charity Ball “Save the Date” magnets were passed around the room during
the general meeting. The ticket price was announced to be $15.00 a person, suggested
minimum donation. The Charity Ball is going to be held at the GVSU Alumni House on Friday, March 26, 2010.
D. Community Wellness
- The new system regarding LIC (Leadership Initiative Credit) points was explained and the due date
for LIC forms announced to be Thursday, April 8 by 5:00 pm in CHS 305.
E. Membership Director
- An announcement was made regarding KCON Relay for Life, and the potential need for someone to help
organize this event while the usual directors are out of town. Please look for an email
regarding the Relay.
F. Break Through to Nursing (BTN) Director
- An elementary school reading program is being planned, if you’re interested, the BTN
director will be making further announcements.
G. Website Coordinator
a. The Website Coordinator asks those present to please take a look at our current SNA website, www.gvsusna.com, and let her know what improvements may be made – especially regarding the “Links” and “Volunteer” pages.
b. An announcement was made regarding the intent to begin an SNA initiative
in the Heartside area of Grand Rapids. Anyone interested was asked to please contact the Website Coordinator via email.
H. Curriculum
- An update on the results of last semester’s “Pharmacology Survey” was given, and students were assured that the curriculum board is taking the
results and reported issues into consideration.

Additional Announcements
a. Blood Drive tomorrow (Tuesday, January 19) in CHS 123, from 12-7 pm.
b. NUR 315 student, Amanda Mujais, made an announcement regarding a donation
drive that she will be heading to send used textbooks and medical equipment to schools and hospitals in Ghana. She studied at the University of Cape Coast and really identified the need for these supplies. Please look for further information coming
from Amanda and help her in this project if you are able! If you have questions, her email address is mujaisa@mail.gvsu.edu. She intends to have a box ready for donations by February 1st.
