Student Nurses Association Meeting Minutes

I.                   Call to order at: 12:10

 

II.        Roll Call:  The roll call was taken by Sara Klein, Secretary.

 

III.             Those Present: President-Megan Keller, Vice President- Danielle Smith, Secretary -Sara Klein, Curriculum Director-Claire Dziewit, Community Wellness –Leah Wozniak, BTN Director-Christina Schwarz, Evaluations-Lisa Tenhavee, Website- Amy Snooks, Faculty Advisor - Nancy Schoofs.

 

Those Absent: Treasurer-Amy McMillan absent with notice, unexcused.

 

IV.              Officer Reports:

 

A.     President

- Megan introduced a new idea this semester – gas giveaway! Those who are physically present at meetings have a chance to win a free $10 gas card. Two $10 gas cards will be given to the lucky names that are drawn at each general meeting. The winners this week were Jessica Ferris and Megan Koehler. At the last meeting of the semester two $50 gas cards will be given away. To be eligible, you must be physically present at each general meeting to be considered.

- Members signed up for delegate positions and will be announced at the next meeting. Each class is allowed 7 delegates with 2 alternatives. If your class had more than 7 members sign up to be delegates, don’t forget to send Megan a paragraph stating why you want to be a delegate. If you are interested in becoming a delegate it is not too late. Email Megan at president.gvsusna@gmail.com.

- Committees were also discussed and members signed up to participate in the committee of their choice.

B. Vice President

                  - T- shirt order forms are due this Wednesday, May

                  21^st  by 4:00pm. Put order forms in the vice presidents mailbox in room 305 CHS. Thanks.

- We have an opportunity to do a fundraiser at Michigan’s Adventure! And it is LIC approved! The event is taking place on July 19^th and will last approximately from 11:00am to 9:00pm. Volunteers will be expected to stay the entire time. The activities include concessions, taking tickets, running the game booths, cleaning up, etc. At least 20 volunteers are needed and for each volunteer the SNA is getting paid $7.50 an hour to go towards the SNA funds. This is a great fundraiser and if you are interested there is a sign up sheet in room 305 CHS.

                  C. Community Wellness

                  - LIC points are due July 11^th by 5:00pm. No late

                    forms or emailed forms will be accepted.

- There is a volunteer opportunity June 13^th from 10:00am-3:00pm at Village of the Lakes on Lake Michigan Dr. This will be a spa day for the residents and if you are interested or need more information contact Leah at community.gvsusna@gmail.com

D. Membership Director

                  - If you are interested in talking to the NUR 120/220

                  classes regarding important information and hints about nursing school contact Renee at membership.gvsusna@gmail.com It will be this Wednesday, May 21^st at 6:15pm at CHS. This event is LIC approved!

                  E. Mentor

                       - The SNA has started a mentor program! A nursing student who is farther along in the program will be paired with an individual in a lower level nursing class to answer questions and concerns. For more information contact Stefanie at bremmess@student.gvsu.edu
